Packages from home

I felt like she could use a "Hug from Home" so I found this cute huggable bear and blanket.  I stuffed it in a flat envelope (if you can believe it) and added some nuts, craisins and nut bars.

Aunt Kim sent this cute, cheerful package of pink, flowery things.

God Prepares the Way

Mom's note  She is Hermana Jerman in Villa Alemana = Sister Jerman in German Town!

Taught Eufemia, a Jehova Witness, about baptisms for the dead since her spouse died. She had been doubting the teachings in her church but temple work made so much sense to her and as she listened, her eyes filled with light. Viviana asked us if she could be baptized after the Holy Ghost testified of BOM.Had exchanges in Olmue. They live in a house with 80 avocado trees out back. I love Chileans and their love for avocados :) The moon and sun are both in the sky at 5 pm. It`s so neat! There are fires almost daily for the dry leaves that catch on fire by the heat of the sun. I know God sent His Son and that this is His church. I know Joseph Smith restored it. I know it is led by a prophet of God. I know the preisthood and revelation are real. Take One Step Closer to Christ Every Day

This week I changed sectors from Quilpue to Villa Alemana (German Town). My companion is Hermana Romano from Argentina! Her prayers open heavens with the words she speaks - I love it! We are both new in the sector so we´re having a great time getting to know the ward. The Lord has poured blessings upon us. We found lots of new investigators and less actives. We had a training for doing family search. Families are praying on the other side of the veil that we do their temple work. I love the talk by Jeffrey Holland, "Be Ye Therefore Perfect - Eventually." It says, "Jesus Christ himself continued from grace to grace. I testify that in this and every hour He is, with nail-scarred hands, extending to us that same grace, holding on to us and encouraging us, refusing to let us go until we are safely home in the embrace of Heavenly Parents."

God's Hands

This week was full of miracles. Edgard is so enthusiastic to learn all he can about the church and do everything he can. We were able to complete all the lessons with our investigator Soledad. She has such faith that it glows from her face and she could not wait to baptized. Her baptism was Saturday and this time we filled the font without filling the church as well :) We are going to start teaching her mother. A woman came to church with her three kids. Two of her kids are baptized and she asked us when she could be baptized, too! She has already read the triple :) The Lord is in every moment of our lives. We only need to notice. He is always there if we are willing to turn to Him.

2018

This week we had FHE with Cristina, our new convert. She is so sweet and we have such a love for her. We had a ward activity to encourage missionary work. Shared our testimonies as missionaries and got references from the members. Taught a new investigator named Edgard and set a baptismal date. He can`t wait! He has poor vision but when we sang him a hymn, he played it by ear on the piano! God has given us each spiritual gifts. We should thank him by cultivating them and blessing the lives of others."We come to know the Savior as we do our best to go where He wants us to go, as we strive to say what He wants us to say, and as we become what He wants us to become. Because serving other is serving God, we grow to love Him and our brothers and sisters more deeply. We come to know the Lord as we not only believe in Him but also believe Him and His assurances. Believing Him is trusting that His bouteous blessings are available and applicable in our individual lives." Elder Bednar

I'm Dreaming of a Wet Christmas

I asked her a couple questions and here are her replies.
We live alone in the house behind our mamaíta. We eat a big meal at lunchtime but no, we don´t eat an evening meal, unless sometimes we have food for FHE or once with families after a lesson. We wake up at 7:00 and are to arrive back home by 9:30-10:00 and we have to be in bed by 11:00.

Exchanges with Hermana Terry

Had exchanges in Mirador and we taught a recent convert who is blind. She listens to the scriptures on a speaker and told us she was about to smoke one day but felt her CTR ring and didn´t! Cristina got baptized this weekend! We turned the baptismal font on and when we returned, it had flooded two classrooms and the hallway. We got some brooms and started sweeping the wáter out the door. As people arrived, they pitched in to help. It turned out great and the baptism was beautiful. For New Years we stayed up until midnight with our mamita eating dinner and watching church videos. "To live with gratitude in our hearts is to touch heaven." Thomas S. Monson. I´m so grateful for the words of modern prophets and to be a part of this marvelous work.
