Letter from Mission President Diaz

Dear Jerman Family,

I am pleased to inform you that your missionary, Sister Alicia Ruth Jerman, has been assigned to serve as a Trainer in the Chile Vina del Mar Mission. One of the most trusted responsibilities in the mission is to teach and to train a new missionary.

Sister Jerman , has prepared for this responsibility through strict obedience and faithful service. She has demonstrated Her willingness to serve the Lord by the example she has set for her companions and leaders and by the progress she has made in her own personal development.

I know that Sister Jerman will magnify this assignment and will be a credit to you, to the mission, and to the Lord.

Joy is Found in Christ and His Atonement

Got to go to a wedding in our chapel for some members. They are going to get sealed in the temple in a year and are so happy! This week we helped out in the Quilpue Centro sector as a zone. Had a jolly time contacting and learning phrases in Tagolag from Hermana Tabaque :) Sang in sacrament meeting with a member while Hermana Tabaque played the piano. We have transfers this Wednesday! I`m going to train a new missionary. I know as we trust in the Lord and work hard, we can overcome our weaknesses through his atoning power (Doctrine & Covenants 11:10-13). He is the finisher of our faith and makes us more than we can by ourselves. I`m super excited and feel so blessed for all God has given me.

Quilpue Zone

Happy Thanksgiving!

Played ping pong for pday and met as a zone in the Los Arromos sector to help the elders there with contacts and finding new investigators. We taught Josè and Maria who are very knowledgeable about the bible. As Nephi said, I do not know all things but I know that God loves His children. I know this church is true and Christ lives. The important things is that the Spirit was there to testify to them of the message of the restored gospel. "As a teacher you may not say something quite right or may be weak and feable in words and expression, but the Holy Ghost is not. Always pray and sincerely ask for the guidance of the Holy Ghost." The Spirit changes our hearts and brings about conversion. Each time we follow the Spirit, we become more like Christ (Mosiah 3:19). We had stake conference and Elder Alan Packer of the Seventy spoke as well as President Diaz and his wife: If we study the gospel, we will know how to safely navigate through the storms of life back to our heavenly home. 
Like Nephi, I have been born of goodly parents, taught the gospel, and have a great knowledge of the goodness of God. I`m so grateful I have the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others every day.

To Be a Mormon is to Be Happy

We had family night with our recent convert Katya and talked about gratitude. Be grateful even in trials because trials are blessings that helps us progress and become more like our Father in Heaven. In the recent general conference, Stanley G. Elis said, "Hard is the constant; the varaible is the reaction to hard." In Doctrine and Covenants 29:5 it says, "Lift up your hearts and be glad, for I am in your midst." We taught a new investigator who told us he felt less burdened when we sang a hymn, prayed, and talked about God. We sat outside surrounded by trees and his little veggie garden. When it got dark, he brought out a flashlight and it felt like we were sitting around a campfire :) Ate lunch on a bed at a member`s house because it is very tiny with no floor space. I love these people. As a zone, we helped the elders in El Retiro. They gave us maps of their area, and we had an appointment with a less active in their ward.  Saturday we took a tour bus for a ward activity to Cumorah, a church campsite. We helped serve lunch, drank "Mate" (a foamy herbal tea they put in a "matera" cup and pass around), and played"paletas" (similar to pickleball).

Happy Halloween!

Taught Dilan, a young boy who really wants to come to church and be baptized. We are also working with a less active and his wife who are old, cheery, and like to tease each other :) They started reading the Book of Mormon together and yesterday they came to church! We started teaching a couple, Josè and Maria, who really wanted to know which church is true because there are many churches but only one God (Ephesians 4:5). God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our message is that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in its fulness. We have prophets, apostles, revelations, and priesthood authority just as Christ established the church during his ministry (Ephesians 4:11-14). I know Jesus is my Savior and He lives. I know Jospeh Smith is a prophet of God. I know with all my heart that this church is true, and you can, too! The Book of Mormon is tangible evidence that you can read, ponder, and pray about to know the truth by the power of the Holy Ghost. President Hinckley said, "Do you want to be happy? Forget yourself and get lost in this great cause. Lend your efforts to helping people... Live the gospel of Jesus Christ." As the Apostles in Matthew 4:19-22, we should leave our nets (sins, the natural man) and follow Christ.

p.s. We don`t cook. We only eat breakfast in our pension and it`s usually eggs or cereal.
