Life is Beautiful

With Katya and her less active mom, we talked about Christ´s Atonement. Through Christ, we can do all the things asked of us. When we repent God sees us as we are, not as we were. What matters is that we are constantly trying to change, persistence not perfection. There´s a lot to this life, so just focus on one things: become like Jesus (3 Nephi 27:27, Moroni 7:48, D&C 6:36). You can be happy in every moment because of the Savior. For the Fiesta Patria, there are many BBQs and kites. Taught English class in the chapel for our investigators and members. We got to do service for a member, and it was painting! Woohoo, I loved that. After a lesson with a family of investigators, they made us cumpletos, chilean hotdogs that have mayo, avocado, and tomato on top.

Saturday we had a service project pulling weeds at the hospital with the stake and two zones. It was awesome to get some dirt on my hands :) We had lunch with a member who has 12 kids, 12 grandkids, 15 cats, and 1 dog. There were two tiny earthquakes that fun to experience. We taught a woman whose sister recently died, but the Spirit was so strong as we testified of eternal families and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. How beautiful this gospel is.

(In Chile 2 weeks now)

On pday I loved playing soccer in the outdoor court at our chapel with the zone. In overcoming my weaknesses, I know in whom I trust. All is possible through the grace of Jesus Christ. To inherit the kingdom of God we are to become like children, curious, energetic, resilliant. I love talking with the kids. For the Fiesta Patria on September 18th (Chile`s independence holiday), we had a ward party. Helped the women set up tables and chop vegetables for a dish called Cazuela. Many of the girls wear traditional dresses to dance the Cueca. The Latina music is great, too. Tried a dessert called Mote. I think it had grains, fermented peaches, and a juice of some kind :)

Remember to recognize God`s love in the little things that happen during the day. Spencer W. Kimball said, "Sometimes the solution is not to change our circumstance, but to change our attitude about that circumstance." If you`re waiting for happiness in the future, you`ll forget to be happy now.

(Chile!)

When we got our travel plans for Chile, I couldn´t keep my happy quiet ;) We watched the MTC devotional by Elder Bednar "Character of Christ." It was so profound. The character of Christ is that he always turned outward to serve others when the natural man would turn inward. This is how we turn our testimony into conversion, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and His grace. It was an eight hour flight through the night from Mexico to Santiago Chile. Sat next to a man and talked about Jesus. At the end of the flight, we gave a Book of Mormon to him. Got picked up by the missionaries from the airport and took pictures at the Santiago Temple.
The elders from my district in the CCM at Santiago Temple
On the same property is the Santiago CCM where we joined with latino missionaries there and rode a bus to Viña del Mar. When we arrived, we placed a Book of Mormon and had a chilean feast with seafood at President Diaz`s home. All the women here give hugs and kisses on the cheeks :) My trainer is Hermana Tabaque. She is from the Philipines.
In front of our home this morning
Our area is 40 minutes outside of Viña called Anibal Pinto, Quilpuè. We live in a lovely little home on a small hill in the backyard of a member.

Our house

There are many hills, dirt roads, stray doggies, wildflowers, and ponies. I love that! Instead of knocking at doors, you shout "Ah-low!" until they come out of their homes.

The member made apples and peaches to
look like sunnyside eggs and fries for us.
We eat lunch with members and every lunch is like a mini Thanksgiving because the people don`t usually have dinner. Chileans speak very rapidly and have unique phrases that aren`t found in other Latino countries, so it`s been fun and funny for me :) I`m praying always and trusting in the Lord; I know the gift of tongues is a real power. I saw a painting of two missionaries walking on a dirt road with Jesus in front and angels behind. I know my angels are my ancestors and my Savior is leading us. Had a first lesson with Katya and she wants to be baptized! We set a date and have been teaching her every day. She is so good. Ate empanadas, drank rotten milk on accident, had zone meeting. When we keep the Sabbath Day holy and participiate in the Sacrament, we will have a better week and our souls will be replenished. We show our faith by keeping His commandments.

Vina del mar

Every picture I could find from the internet.  So colorful but you'll want to zoom through.  Ha, Ha!
